All too often we hear of tragic automobile accidents, both locally in and near the Detroit, Michigan, as well as throughout the United States. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the family of a 61 year old woman who died following a car accident while in transport in a medical vehicle similar to an ambulance.
The accident occurred at about 5:00am at the intersection of West McNichols Road and Gilchrist Street when another vehicle collided with the medical vehicle after attempting an illegal u-turn. The medical van then burst into flames with the victim still inside. Immediately following the accident, the woman was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. There were no other injuries in the accident. According to police, the suspect was en route to his business, where he had just received word of a break-in.
Incidents such as this should come as a reminder that no matter how safe you are on the roads, you never know about others on the roads; everyone is vulnerable, and accidents can happen to anyone at any time.
If you have been involved in a car accident, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries, medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If you had a family member who was killed in an accident, your family may also be entitled to all of the above as well as future lost wages, depending on the age and situation of the wrongful death victim. You may want to speak with a legal professional to determine whether you have a case worthy of consideration.
