Understanding Your Rights After A Car Accident

In metro Detroit, Livonia, Novi and throughout southeast Michigan the lives of individuals and families are disrupted every day due to car accidents. I understand how difficult it is for an accident victim to know where to turn. Insurance adjusters are in the business to minimize risk for big business. My law practice is a strong legal resource, dedicated to turning the tables against the power of the insurance companies.

Michigan is a no-fault auto insurance state. However, this does not mean that fault is not important. If the other driver was at fault and your injury meets a certain threshold, you can seek additional compensation from the insurance company of the at-fault driver.

One-On-One Representation From A Focused Personal Injury Lawyer

I am attorney Kurt M. Schultz in Plymouth, Michigan. I represent people involved in all types of accidents, including truck wrecks, auto crashes, motorcycle accidents and pedestrian accidents. If you have been injured in an accident, I offer a free consultation to discuss your case.

I draw on more than 14 years of experience obtaining meaningful results to build a strong case for each accident victim I represent. My mission is to provide outstanding legal representation with one-on-one personal service. For that reason, I remain a sole practitioner so that each client will have direct access to their lawyer.

It is important to understand that you are entitled to no-fault benefits even if you do not own a car or have your own auto insurance! The only situation that you would not be able to make a claim is if you were operating your own vehicle when the accident occurred, and you did not have valid insurance at that time. Whether you end up hiring me or not, I want you to understand your rights and get answers to your questions. Call me at 734-392-8234.

Understanding Your No-Fault Benefits

Michigan no-fault insurance provides for Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefit. These benefits include payment of necessary medical expenses, lost wages, payment of up to $20 a day for certain household services/chores performed for you by a friend or loved one, and assistance paid by the hour for personal services, such as dressing, bathing, grooming, etc... These are but a few of the benefits you may be entitled to. Again, these benefits are available regardless of how the car accident occurred, even if you caused the accident.

Unfortunately, no-fault insurance does not cover everything that you may lose in an accident. A car accident can turn your life upside down. You may be left with permanent impairments and lasting pain. If another driver was at fault for the accident, you can obtain full compensation for everything you have lost, including pain and suffering, if your injury meets a certain threshold. Even if you were partially responsible for the accident, you may be able to recover compensation from the other driver's insurance as long as you were not more than 50 percent at fault.
